The Role
This is a unique opportunity to perform client-facing financial planning and educational work. This role begins as a high-impact, part-time position with a clear path to becoming a full-time lead planner/advisor within 2-3 years.
You will be crucial in delivering financial planning, ensuring smooth client onboarding, and leading some of our educational initiatives.
- Employment Type: Part-Time (W-2 or 1099, to be discussed)
- Hours: 15–20 hours per week
- Location: Remote (Preference for candidates based in Austin)
- Experience: 2-3 years of client-facing planning experience
Key Responsibilities & Goals
1. Financial Planning.
- Assist with financial planning for clients. Our clients are largely women and couples in their 30s and 40s with MDs, PhDs, or MBAs. Your role would include tax planning, investment guidance, cash flow support, insurance recommendations, student loan analysis e.g. for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, educational planning, company equity modeling, and using financial planning software (RightCapital) to forecast scenarios e.g., buying a house with 20% down versus 25% down. We are an advice-only firm that does not custody assets or place trades. Many of our clients have student loans and are planning for young children.
- Comfort with financial planning software like RightCapital or eMoney is a core job function.
2. Financial Education Events.
- Event Leadership: Comfortably lead or co-lead small-group financial education events, workshops, or webinars. Must be articulate and engaging when presenting complex topics to a general audience and able to answer Q&A on the fly.
3. Sales Pipeline & Client Management.
- CRM Management: Assist with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring all prospect and client data is accurate and up-to-date. This includes tracking lead flow, prospect conversions, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2-3 years or more of professional experience working as a paraplanner or advisor preferably in a fee-only financial planning firm.
- Please include detailed information about your past financial planning experience in your resume specifically highlighting any experience with the firms’ clientele, women and couples in their 30s and 40s with MDs and MBAs.
- Preference is given to candidates with or pursuing the CFP® certification who have experience at a fee-only firm.
- Client Facing: Proven experience in a client-facing role, demonstrating excellent communication skills, empathy, and professionalism.
- Technical Comfort: Proficiency with standard office software, financial planning software like RightCapital, and ability to manage a CRM system.
- Growth Mindset: A strong desire to grow with the company and a willingness to commit to a full-time position within 1-3 years.
Compensation
- Compensation will be competitive with experience. The role will start at $75K for 20 hours / week of work with 2 weeks of paid vacation. Hours worked can be negotiated and could include a flexible schedule e.g., 6-7 hours / day three days a week.
